Job Description

Spectrum IT are recruiting for a client who have an urgent requirement for a contract Data Designer to work closely with Analysts and Architects to deliver high level designs based upon business requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyse data sets to identify modelling logic and key attributes required for the designs
  • Create and maintain appropriate designs ensuring appropriate documentation is created and updated
  • Develop and update Physical Data Models (PDMS)
  • Perform Data Analyst's responsibilities when required
  • Lead handover sessions to developers and testers
  • Participate in estimation of effort required to create low-level design documentation for each discrete piece of work.
  • Provide technical and business knowledge support to Business Analysts to elaborate user stories and acceptance criteria where required
  • Provide input into Data Tower Design Authority as requested
  • Engage with the business and the Product Owner(s) to understand business requirements and develop low-level design documentation for all impacted components in a solution

Skills

  • Solid experience with data warehouse and business intelligence
  • Previous experience as Data Designer working independently within a data and analytics solution to deliver low level ETL design and physical data models
  • Excellent knowledge of Data Warehousing Design Methodologies must have Kimball dimensional models
  • Working knowledge of Cloud based data and analytics solutions potentially using Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Informatica and PowerBI
  • Experience in bringing critical insights and suggestions for continual improvement into process and solution design
  • Hands-on SQL/Python experience for the purposes of interrogating data
  • Ability to understand and relay complex data-related issues
  • Proven experience in Data Modelling tools such as ER Studio
  • Working knowledge of ETL/ELT technology and tools, such as Informatica DEI
  • Working knowledge of data quality, cleanse and standardisation methods, techniques and tools
  • Experience in working as part of data delivery teams using multiple delivery methodologies, incl. Agile, Hybrid Agile, Waterfall
  • Proven problem-solving skills to identify the root cause of defects/issues and translate business requirements into technical designs
