Contract Lead Developer (PHP Wordpress)

Job description

Spectrum IT's Hampshire Client are a leading software service and technology provider who are keen to recruit a Contract Lead Developer for an initial 3-month contract, Outside IR35 with Full Remote Working.

As the Contract Lead Developer you will over see a team of 5 developers and help guide the development and maintenance of applications to support the business needs and eCommerce projects. You will focus on ensuring that all developers within your team are adhering to the agreed software development procedures and coding standards. In turn you will report in the Development Manager and play a key role in supporting the team during a busy project phase.

Responsibilities:

  • Be accountable for deliverables, both individually and when leading a team.
  • Guide the team to continue utilising Agile practices and principles to ensure best practices methodologies are used.
  • Hands on code writing and conducting team code reviews.
  • Leverage your understanding of coding best practices, including topics like secure coding, testing paradigms, effective peer code reviews, logging, and resilient architecture patterns, to ensure that our code is clean and complies with adopted coding practices.
  • Suggest best practices for coding standards, design patterns, technology stack, development processes and ways of working to ensure that the department thrives and continually strives towards excellence.

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong PHP and Wordpress experience
  • Previous experience with WooCommerce
  • Previous Team Lead/Senior Developer experience
  • The ability to manage an agile development team including team reviews/code reviews, motivating the team and organising/planning work.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of software patterns, software modelling, secure programming principles, test-driven development or another unit testing methodology, and code standards compliance.
  • Previous experience of developing and delivering secure, highly transactional eCommerce websites using the WooCommerce platform
