Lead Performance Engineer - Fully remote

Lead Performance Engineer required by a leading software provider based in Reading. The company are rapidly expanding and are currently looking for a Lead Performance Engineer to both deliver valuable customer-facing benchmarks and guide the development of the in-house performance testing suite.

The companies core product is a real-time data platform and following a recent investment there is a wealth of new feature development on the roadmap.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the performance and reliability team through decision making and planning
  • Contribute directly to the performance tolling in Java and Python
  • Own, develop, and maintain public performance benchmarks
  • Coach the development teams on performance tuning and testing practices

Essential experience:

  • Core Java
  • Java Virtual Machines (JVMs)
  • Performance testing experience
  • Setting up Linux and AWS environments for performance testing

Any experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:

  • Python, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Messaging protocols: MQTT, AMQP
  • WebSockets
  • Algorithms and their optimisation
  • Distributed systems
  • Machine learning concepts
