SQL Server DBA
Remote Working
£50,000 + On Call Allowance

Role Purpose and Summary
As a Developer DBA you will be a part of the team responsible for platform build, delivery, development and support for IT systems in the Authentication Division.
· You will work as part of a wider infrastructure team delivering data components for the platform on which industry leading tax revenue, product authentication and track-and-trace IT solutions are built
· You will work with the Software Delivery Team, Infrastructure Team, IT Support and Test teams to define software solutions, research, determine the scope and complexity of issues and to identify steps to resolve them
· You will build relationships with key stakeholders
· Identify areas where standards can be developed and processes improved, and work with your team to implement those improvements

Experience / Skills / Behaviours
· 3 years plus experience as a Production DBA while providing DBA support and guidance to Development Teams
· Demonstrable experience of T-SQL coding of stored procedures and functions
· ETL Skills using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) in conjunction with T-SQL and custom scripts, preferably C#, to query REST APIs
· Performance Tuning and Optimization using native and bespoke tools
· Experience of version-control systems such as Azure DevOps and / or Git
· An understanding of logical and physical database design and the different concepts behind OLTP, OLAP and Data Warehousing
· Enquiring approach to work, a methodical approach to solving problems and an attention to detail
· Experienced with all editions of MS SQL Server from 2016 through to 2019
· Working with SQL Server in a HA environment including Windows Server Failover Clusters (WSFC), Log shipping and Always-On High Availability (Availability Groups)
· Ideally you will have some knowledge of Microsoft Azure SQL database
· Ability to work as part of a team
· Ability to work with people across the organisation
· An understanding of information security
· Understanding of the principles of business continuity and disaster recovery

Key Accountabilities
· Provide technical expertise as required to the Software Delivery Team, DBA team and Infrastructure Manager and input to technical projects
· Provide a common thread for Database delivery activities from inception, through delivery, into operational running
· Troubleshoot performance issues
· Lead analysis and resolution of data issues
· Work within and agile framework to deliver robust and performant database designs and code
· Able to work under pressure and focus on resolving business critical issues, and deliver to strict deadlines
· Work within an ITIL framework to manage incidents, problems and system changes
