UX/UI Designer

Southampton (potential for remote working)

£30,000 - £45,000

A great new opportunity for a UX/UI Designer to join a unique software house based near Southampton. You will be will be responsible for creating amazing user experiences. You should have an eye for usability, accessibility and clean artful design. You should also be able to translate high-level requirements into interaction flows and artifacts, and transform them into intuitive, and functional user interfaces.

Working alongside the UX Lead, UI Developers, BA and Test teams to help shape the user experience and UI design of the Platform. Primarily working in Figma to create layouts to support development and UX Design process you should be aware of component-based design practices and have an enthusiasm for user centred design.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Figma/Sketch, Zeplin, Whimsical, InVision and the Adobe Suite
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
  • Basic understanding of HTML & CSS
  • Understanding WCAG and accessibility
  • Desirable but not essential - Experience with Tree Testing
  • Desirable but not essential - UI/UX copywriting - User friendly terminology and language usage on the product

Responsibilities

  • Understand business requirements to inform user experience
  • Understand product specifications and user psychology
  • Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to define and implement innovative solutions for the product
  • Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks
  • Determine information architecture and create sitemaps
  • Create wireframes, hi-fidelity mocks and clickable prototypes
  • Design accessible experiences and interfaces
  • Create personas through user research and data
  • Conduct usability testing as needed
  • Evaluate user feedback from user testing
  • Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables
  • Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards

Core Competencies

  • Proven UX and UI experience
  • Demonstrable design skills with a strong portfolio
  • Solid experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and sitemaps
  • Ability to present your solutions to various stakeholders
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
  • Up-to-date with the latest trends, techniques, and technologies
  • A user-centric mindset
  • Excellent attention to detail for UI Design

Salary & Benefits
