AV Engineer

A niche Technology company, based in the Southampton area is seeking an AV Engineer to join their engineering team in supporting their Broadcasting solutions.

This company currently work with some high profile clients within their market and are looking for an AV Engineer to join the business and assist in the support of their products and services.

Passionate about staying ahead with the latest technology, the AV Engineer role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced AV Engineer to work with the latest technologies and further develop current skills.

This is a varied role and as an AV Engineer you will.

  • Provide technical support activities onsite/offsite and out of hours as part of an on-call rotation
  • Taking ownership of projects including design, testing, implementation and handover
  • Aid the Operations Manager to ensure projects/ live events are delivered on time, implemented correctly and all information is documented correctly
  • Design systems and equipment, software and hardware to fit workflows and project requirements in line with workplace practices
  • Take direct ownership and responsibility of key areas assigned within engineering and operations
  • Equipment software installation (Linux OS) and support, locally and remotely
  • Live event support remotely and on location
  • Creating procedures and aiding in best practices, re-writing or re-working procedures where necessary
  • Aiding in an operational role to monitor and maintain active services, including incident response, fault finding and software debugging
  • Research and development of new and existing technologies to aid in project bids, project implementation or workflows
  • Product testing and quality assurance
  • Writing reports and documentation in line with best practices

The Skills required to be successful as an AV Engineer are:

  • Technical experience and understanding or broadcast video and audio encoding, decoding and transcoding (essential)
  • Experience with Linux based operating systems cli (essential)
  • Experience with cloud platforms e.g. AWS, Google Cloud (desirable)
  • Experience working in a broadcast, network or AV role (desirable)
  • Experience with IP networking and security (desirable)
  • Understanding of python or other programming languages

The successful AV Engineer will have proven experience working in an AV Engineering environment.

The role of AV Engineer is paying up to £40k with excellent benefits including, 21 days holiday (Plus bank holidays), pension scheme, Flexible / remote working and Free parking on site.
