Contract Business Analyst - Southampton

Role:

Working on predominantly greenfield projects the Business Analyst will be an expert in Analysis tools and techniques and play a key role between the business and the change programme throughout the change life cycle. You will liaise with senior stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and communicate requirements while informing the business of best practice. Understanding the business, its culture and engineer domain (both physical and digital) will be key.

Experience:

  • A strong understanding for industry standard Business Analyst techniques and tools i.e. stakeholder assessment, business process and IT systems analysis, requirements gathering, data modelling, asset management, field services, facilitation, presentation, project management, change management, and strategic analysis
  • Proven ability to proactively and constructively challenges the business
  • Investigate operational issues, problems and new opportunities, seeking effective business solutions through improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes/procedures, organisation and equipment
  • Works with business users to specify information flows, processes/procedures, and data objects that will meet the business requirements
  • Experience arranging, preparing and facilitating client/users meetings and presenting issues and solutions both orally and in writing
  • Works with the business to produce clearly defined acceptance tests scripts and scenarios and facilitate the resolution of identified issues to the satisfaction of business users.
  • Assists in defining and justifying (in business terms) initiatives to develop/implement automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes.
  • Provides the link between business users, developers and third parties throughout the development life cycle and assists in the resolution of any queries regarding specifications and change requests
  • Stakeholder analysis and management, identify a project's key stakeholders and an assessment of their interests in the project to determine the way(s) in which these interests should be considered throughout the project life cycle, ensuring that views of all parties are considered verified and validated within the stakeholder community

Professional Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with an engineer industy IT, Software or Projects department as a BA
  • Comprehensive previous experience as a Business Analyst
  • Proven ability to see the "bigger picture" before heading into the detail, understanding where the project fits in with the organisational goals
  • Strong communication skills - Strong ability to adapt communication styles to the needs of the audience so they are able to articulate business strategies and challenge the business in a confident and credible manor.
  • Techniques which help in modelling and understanding a business and its operation. (i.e. business environment analysis, business perspectives, functional business models, business driven development, process modelling, stakeholder analysis, relational data modelling, use case modelling, statistical process control, use cases, user stories, Scrum, process mapping, benefits mapping)
  • Techniques for modelling and streamlining business processes. (i.e. Lean Six-Sigma DMAIC, error-proofing, value added assessment, process cycle time reduction, future-proofing, resilience, reliability, cost effectiveness)
  • Tools and techniques which can be used to document an understanding of the structure, relationships and use of information within an organisation. (i.e. information usage model, entity model, class diagram, relational data model, data flow model)
