Job description
This role is for a Contract Ruby Developer to join our clients' team in Farnborough, Hampshire. You will be working with a friendly team of developers, designers, project managers and engineers, to design, create and improve new and existing products, with a focus on back end development.
Skills / Experience
- Experience integrating with XML or JSON APIs in Ruby
- Experience with some of all the following Ruby gems:
- Rails
- ActiveRecord
- Nokogiri or Nori
- Eventmachine
- Sinatra
- rb-inotify- Rake
- MySQL experience
- Redis experience
- Knowledge of the use of version control systems such as subversion or Git
- Ability to quickly research and learn new programming tools and techniques
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Development or other related subject
Nice to have
- Knowledge / experience of any front end web technologies such as JavaScript, AngularJS would be advantageous
- Knowledge or familiarity with any other language such as Java or Go would be a distinct advantage
- Experience or knowledge of betting or financial industries
- Working within and Agile environment
- Knowledge of working with Project Management tools such as Atlassian JIRA
