DevOps / Implementation/ Azure / Ansible / Jenkins

A Development Operations manager is required on an exciting project leading a small DevOps team for our client based in Poole. The client is looking for a candidate with experience in Ansible/ Jenkins as well as, ideally, Azure who is looking for the next step in their career. The client is currently making the change from on premises infrastructure onto the Cloud so are looking for someone to oversee the transition who can implement best practice and take ownership of the project.

The client themselves are the UK leader in their field and provide dealership management software to a variety of industries. The software and innovative solutions they provide cover all areas of business operations from parts and service through to finance, helping their customers achieve and excel the business objectives. It's an exciting time to come on board with them and a fantastic opportunity to grow with the business. Initially leading a small team of 2, the role and team will grow with the successful candidate.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide strategies and solutions on how to improve and implement DevOps Procedures
  • Identify weaknesses within the security and DevOps processes and act to improve and solve
  • Liaise and manage relationships with third party vendors
  • Research and Understand DevOps techniques and methodologies helping to improve the delivery of both existing and new products
  • Contribute to software design and supporting documentation
  • Mentor and support the learning and progression of the team members as well as getting involved in recruitment as the team grows and develops
  • Work within both Linux and windows environments
  • Review code created/ edited by other DevOps Engineers
  • Work with the source control solution provided by the company
  • Work with internal teams closely including QA and support

Experience required:

  • Managing, leading and mentoring a small team
  • Automation and continued integration experience
  • Have an understanding in scripting languages for both Linux and Windows (Perl, Bash, Powershell)
  • Experience working with Virtualisation technologies (Xen, HyperV, VMWare)
  • Commercial experience with Ansible / Chef / Puppet / SaltStack
  • Previous experience with automation tools ( Jenkins, Team city, Circle CI)
  • Experience with Containerisation technologies (i.e Docker / Kubernetes) would be advantageous
  • Prior experience working in an Agile environment
  • Bachelors Degree or Equivalent in Computer Science or other relevant fields.
