Hardware Draughtsman/ CAD Designer

6 Month Contract

Role

This new role will involve supporting the introduction of a new product into

manufacturing as well as maintaining and supporting the manufacturing data pack for

existing products.

The position will be within the Hardware team working close with both Engineering

design and production engineering teams.

We are seeking a self-motivated individual, with excellent drawing office skills, who has good attention to detail and can contribute to maintaining good process and quality of output.

Responsibilities:

 Producing detailed drawings from 3D CAD models

 Assisting in the development of new designs

 Creation of assembly drawings, part numbers and bill of materials

 Transfer design information via drawing control procedures into the

manufacturing MRP system (Fourman / Epicor)

 Manage and implement drawing change requests

 Create and check mechanical assemblies for production

 Check and ensure all drawings and documentation meet required levels of quality

 Ensure parts / products can be manufactured in a cost effective manner

 Prepare manufacturing documentation (part drawings, assembly drawings, wiring

diagrams, inspection drawings)

 Manage and add new parts into manufacturing MRP system (Fourman / Epicor)

 Liaison and support to production and other internal teams

 Ensuring draughting solutions are provided on time and on budget.

 Investigation and Sourcing of suitable component s and materials

 Adherence to engineering and company standards and processes

Essential Experience:

 Working within electro-mechanical design team

 Drawings office practises

 Working experience of CAD packages

 Experience with MRP systems (Fourman/Epicor desirable)

 Experience in a commercial manufacturing environment

Desired Experience:

 Previous experience of Creo CAD Software

 Experience of PTC Windchill

 Engineering Apprenticeship

 Relevant Electro mechanical qualification

Principal Accountabilities

Provide conceptual design solutions.

Produce detailed component, sub-assembly and system level drawings.

Generate 3D models in a variety of complexities.

Update existing drawings packs to meet internal and client expectations.

Sourcing suitable components and materials when required.

Creation of part numbers and bill of materials.

Checking detailed manufacturing drawings and documentation.

Ensuring draughting solutions are provided on time and on budget.

Adherence engineering and company standards and processes.

Site visits to other JFD offices, military bases and client assets as and when required.

Accountability and responsibility for approving drawings at draughting level prior to engineering checks and approval.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Proven design skills

Skilled in generating 3D models

Knowledge of machining/fabrication/bespoke manufacturing techniques

Knowledge of draughting and design standards

Knowledge of draughting principles

Previous product design experience would be advantageous

Proven AutoCAD skills.

Experience

Ideally 3 years in a draughting or product design role

Experience with PLM system for generating and storage of drawing packages

Experience with Solidworks enterprise vault or similar CAD vault.

Solidworks user would be advantageous.

Experience in constructing bills of materials.

Qualifications

HNC qualification in an engineering field or equivalent industry experience
