Head of IT / IT Systems Manager

Are you a Head of IT, IT Systems Manager, ICT Manager with line management experience?

If so I would like to speak with you about an opportunity to manage and lead the technical support function of an IT Software/Hardware specialist based in Christchurch, Dorset.

You will lead the team that designs, implements and supports the company's internal business and customer facing software and hardware. You will be responsible for all aspects of the day to day running of the ICT Infrastructure including High Availability performance, capacity planning, maintenance, receiving and responding to alerts, systems backup and restore, staff scheduling and management and development of the infrastructure team. You will ensure we follow ITIL best practises. This is a technical management role so you will be required and expected to resolve issues yourself and be both hands on and hands off.

Network & Systems Management Experience:

  • Experience of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2
  • Experience and Certification in VMware 5.x, VEEAM, AD, WSUS, Group Policy, Exchange 2010, ESET AV, Deslock encryption and SonicWALL Firewalls
  • Maintain and Support Always On Architecture
  • Significant direct experience of management of ICT in relation to network operations, applications management and web based technology
  • Experience of developing ICT solutions and services that meet the needs of a growing customer focused organisation, where new technology plays an important role
  • Experience of staff management, recruitment, training, appraisal and motivation
  • Experience of building strong relationships and inter connectivity between the business and ICT to ensure that the needs of the business are supported and enabled by technology
  • Experience of report and strategy development and implementation
  • Experience of prioritising a varied and demanding workload

Required Essential Skills and Experience

  • At least 5 years' experience in a similar role
  • Detailed knowledge of High Availability Groups and clustering
  • Microsoft SQL server clusters
  • 3rd line support and Maintenance of Windows servers
  • Exchange Administration
  • IIS Administration
  • AD/DNS/GPO Administration
  • Advanced networking (VLAN's, PVID's, routing etc)
  • SQL Server basic administration
  • VMware 5.x or above
  • A self-starter, driven person who will take ownership of assigned tasks and drive to completion
  • Must hold a driver's license and have access to a car
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Salary: £50,000.00 - £65,000.00 DOE
  • Line manager: IT Director
  • Hours: 37.5 hours, 09:00 - 17:30 hours, Monday - Friday with a 60 minute unpaid break plus rota on call (1 in 2 weeks at the moment but will be 1 in 3 week eventually) and overtime as requested by the need of the business
  • Holiday: 22 days plus bank holidays - will increase after 2 years' service to a max of 25 days
  • Benefits: Pension (after 3 months service), Death in service (4 x salary), Incapacity benefit, Parking - , shower facilities, buying, selling and carrying forward holiday, onsite restaurant, membership to the East Christchurch Social club
  • Probation: 6 months
