Infrastructure Engineer / 2nd-3rd Support Engineer
Southampton
£25,000 - £35,000

Infrastructure Engineer / 2nd-3rd Support Engineer required to join a team of 8 supporting high profile customers on business critical 24/7 applications.

Currently working from home but normally based in the Head Office just outside of Southampton, also some travel to their co-location in Portsmouth therefore a driving license is required.

The position will be part of the on call rota (currently 1 in 4 or 1 in 5 rotation) - 1 week, 24/7 - covering escalations- £275 a week.


Essential Skills
· Experience of working in a medium to large IT environment
· Strong troubleshooting skills, strategic planning, and logical approach to problem solving
· Strong oral, written communication, and documentation skills
· Good TCP/IP knowledge and exposure to VLAN's / VRF technologies
· Understanding of IPv4 subnetting
· Flexible working approach and willing to work outside of normal business hours
· Competent with:
o Microsoft Windows Server configuration and administration
o Microsoft Hyper-V and other virtualisation tools
o Microsoft PowerShell / Scripting / Automation techniques
o Active Directory administration


· Qualifications (one of):
o 'A' level in a computing or numerate-related discipline (or equivalent)
o Degree or diploma in a computing or numerate-related discipline (or equivalent)
o Microsoft certification in a relevant discipline. For example, MCSA, MCP
o Cisco certification in a relevant discipline. For example, CCNA
· Ideally you will have some automation experience, someone with a scripting background (PowerShell) would be strongly advantageous

Advantageous Experience:
· Experience with DevOps practices also advantageous
· Experience with ITIL, ISO27001
· Microsoft System Centre
· Microsoft Azure / Amazon Web Services / IBM Cloud
· Cisco / Dell Network Devices (Firewalls / Switches)
· Web Application Firewalls
· Understanding of SQL Server, High Availability and Business Continuity
· Linux (CentOS / Debian)
