Job description
Research Engineer required by a niche technology company located in Southampton. Due to continued success and expansion the company is looking to hire a Research Engineer to join its existing, highly skilled team.
The successful Research Engineer is likely to have a relevant academic background (ideally masters or PhD) in Computer Science, Maths, Physics or similar as well as knowledge of the following;
- Java or Python
- Knowledge modelling, Data curation and processing
- Strong analytical and applied research skills
- Designing and implementing software
Any experience in one or more of the following would be highly advantageous;
- Linked data, information fusion, geospatial data, system optimization
- Storm, Spark, Hadoop, Hive, or HBase
- Experience of applying IT-based research to real-world problems
- Security risk analysis
- Applied research leading to real work solutions
