SQL Server Developer / DBA

Job description

A leading software services company based in Southampton who are part of a Global organisation are seeking a SQL Server Developer / DBA to join their talented Development team.

As the first dedicated SQL Server Developer / DBA you will have a great opportunity to own this role and really make it your own.

Working across multiple teams you will be working on their newest flagship product, setting up and implementing procedures, processes and standards.

Alongside this you will also be heavily involved in a new project to migrate from Oracle to SQL Server 2016

The role of SQL Server Developer / DBA

  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes
  • Develop in SSRS and SSIS
  • Ensure high levels of performance, reliability, availability, sustainability and security
  • Analyse, solve, and correct issues in real time
  • Provide reporting services for data analytics
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
  • Assist a team of Java developers with query tuning and schema refinement
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities
  • Manage and mitigate database risks
  • To work with the Operations Team to define database server hardware and storage to best support the company databases.
  • To set up and control user access and security of both Development and Production databases.
  • To proactively monitor database performance and work both individually and with the Infrastructure and Development teams to optimise usage.
  • To regularly test database backups for disaster recovery purposes in line with the business requirements.

The successful SQL Server Developer / DBA will experience of:

  • T-SQL
  • Stored Procedures
  • Performance Tuning and optimization
  • High Availability and Disaster Recovery for SQL Server
  • Beneficial
  • Knowledge of SSRS and SSIS
  • MCTS, MCITP, MVP etc

Based in Southampton they have free parking and provide a bus from the train station.

The role of SQL Server Developer / DBA is paying up to £ 47,500 with benefits including Bonus, 25 days holiday, Pension, BUPA, and more.
