Software Tester (Exploratory)
Southampton
£25,000 - £30,000
Software Tester (Exploratory) required by a niche software house based in Southampton. You will join a technical team of approx. 23 which is split into various technical pods. You will be allocated to a particular pod in relation to testing. The role is currently majority manual testing however there is the opportunity to learn automation as the current Test Manager is in the process of building an automated framework which you will be involved in. You will have a natural curiosity for technology and strong problem solving skills.
You will take an exploratory approach to your software testing and instead of writing and following test scripts you will be expected to write, report and execute tests at the same time. You must be able to look into the code (this code is PHP but happy with background in any code) confidently, take a problem and figure out how to test what the problem is and solving it rather than following test scripts to fix things.
You will have strong knowledge and experience of using Agile software development practises as well as the following:-

This role would suit a Software Tester with a genuine interest in technology (including coding), a Developer who is looking to move into a Testing Role or a Developer in Test. You will ideally tinker with technology at home in your spare time and be willing to dive straight in within this role.
