Technical Project Manager

My client are a leading automotive company and due to their expansion they are searching for an exceptional Technical Project Manager.

You will be responsible for providing project management to a cross-functional and highly skilled team. In this role you will manage multiple parallel technology development projects from inception to completion, ensuring they achieve their ambitious timing and outcomes.

You will need to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop the core technology on which our Holographic and AR solutions are based.

This role would particularly suit a technically biased project manager who truly enjoys understanding the technical details of the technology being developments as you will work at the intersection of a high skilled team from Physics, Optics, Hardware and Software backgrounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement robust project plans for the development of multiple key components, novel concepts, prototypes and reference designs for the R&D group.

Responsible for project communications for key developments with suppliers and partners

Ensures project deliverables and assignments are on time and support our overall technology road map

Monitor technical, quality, and financial risks and issues on assigned projects. Mitigate risks or resolve issues where possible. Elevate and focus management attention when there is not timely resolution

Ongoing maintenance of overall project schedules and other project tracking documentation

Ensure effective communication into the leadership team on project status.

Build strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure smooth delivery of projects and efficient resolution of project issues.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, or related field and/or 5+ years of cross-functional Project Management experience in an engineering or preferably an R&D area

Experience working with a global supply base with a particular focus on East Asian countries.

Strong leadership skills and the ability to handle pressure are key

Experienced in programme management methodologies including scope definition, scheduling, risk management, change control protocols.

Confident in participating in Key partner and supplier meetings, with a diplomatic and methodical approach in resolving issues

Strong understanding of design cycles, tooling times and other project timing considerations. Knowledge of the optics supply chain is a strong benefit.

Availability to travel occasionally to Europe, US and Asia.

Excellent Communication skills, both written and verbal.

Experience of working with Asian suppliers is a preferable.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Experience with running Research projects with a need for a flexible approach to planning in order to support the team in developing IP.

Experience or Knowledge of the Automotive developments would be beneficial

Professional project Management accreditation such as PRINCE2

Competent with Microsoft Project and/or other project management toolchains
