Telecoms Core Network Engineer

Mobile Core CS, PS and interfaces, Linux

Camberley

£40,000 - £60,000

Telecoms Core Network Engineer required to join a niche successful telecoms software house based in Camberley. You will be part of a busy support desk and a typical week would involve general 2nd / 3rd Line Support Calls in relation to the 'telecoms core network', Setting up System Demonstrations, Configuring Initial Installations, Debugging Interfaces using Wireshark, Delivering Customer Training, Router Configuration and Scripting as required. This is a key role helping customers to fully utilise the capabilities of the products and realise their goals.

Working with highly skilled and knowledgeable engineers you will have the opportunity to learn from the best in the business. They look for strong technical candidates within the telecoms domain but can cater for people who have perhaps moved away from telecoms due to lack of jobs / if are working for an ISP and you have SIP or VoIP experience or working in labs with the same or similar core network, have historic telecoms core network skills and have moved into the Cloud, have been in test (telecoms) and fancy a change? So the techy bit:-

This is a key role helping customers to fully utilise the capabilities of the products and realise their goals. You will be working with customers to set up system demonstrations and configure initial installations.

Skills Required:

Practical experience in at least 2 of the following technical areas - experience can include troubleshooting, configuration, deployment or design to telecommunications core network support experience

  • Mobile Core CS, PS and interfaces
  • IP Networking skills - including any or all of - routing, VPN, IPsec etc.
  • Strong Linux experience
  • Scripting skills (bash, perl or python etc.)
  • Layer 3+ 4+
  • Wireshark

Advantageous Skills can include any of the below:

  • Support Desk Experience
  • 2nd or 3rd line support
  • Software Development
  • VoIP / SIP

Key Challenges:

  • Customer support of 'telecoms core network' - good understanding of IP networks and Linux
  • Customer software configuration and commissioning
  • Troubleshoot and reproduce issues reported by customers
  • Assist the support team in providing 24/7 support to limited number of customers (call out approx.. 2-3 times a year!)
  • Some travel to customer sites expected
