Ocean Infinity

Ocean Infinity is on a mission to build the world’s largest fleet of marine robotic vehicles, leading the future of safe and sustainable offshore operations. To support this ambitious vision, they needed exceptional talent across a wide range of technology disciplines - including software, hardware, cloud, AI and technical operations, as well as senior leadership roles.

We began working with Ocean Infinity in 2022, initially supporting their UK hiring needs and building a trusted relationship grounded in consistent delivery and industry expertise. As that partnership strengthened, it naturally evolved into an exclusive relationship, supporting recruitment across both the UK and Portugal.

One area where we made a significant impact was the expansion of the DevOps function in Porto. The business had previously struggled to scale locally, working with multiple agencies but seeing limited results. Drawing on our deep talent network and understanding of the Portuguese market, we successfully placed multiple DevOps Engineers, strengthening engineering capability and laying the foundation for continued growth in the region.

This success created an opportunity to support one of the most critical hires to date: the Head of Software Engineering for Porto - a newly created leadership role designed to unify engineering teams across Portugal, the UK and other international offices. With responsibility for around 50–60 engineers working across disciplines such as Web Applications, GIS Mapping, Simulation, Robotics, Hardware and Unreal Engine, the role demanded an exceptional leader able to align strategy, communication and delivery across multiple geographies.

The key challenge was identifying someone capable of improving collaboration across distributed teams, partnering closely with the Tech Director and Engineering Managers, and enhancing cohesion without compromising Ocean Infinity’s culture of innovation. Leveraging our insight into both the business and the wider global talent market, we successfully secured the ideal candidate for this pivotal position.

Today, we continue to partner exclusively with Ocean Infinity, providing ongoing support across senior leadership and technical roles - helping them build world-class engineering teams that power their mission.
