Senior Radio Frequency Design Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior RF Design Engineer to join an innovative technology company based in Fareham. The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary design team working on the development of advanced RF products used by government, defence and law enforcement organisations worldwide.

This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge RF technology, contributing to the design and development of transmitters, receivers and antenna systems across the full product lifecycle.

The Role

You will be responsible for the design and development of RF and related electronic hardware, working closely with other engineers to bring new products from concept through to production. The role will involve working on low-power RF designs within UHF and GHz frequency bands, alongside testing, evaluation and product certification activities.

You will also collaborate with customers to understand requirements and provide technical input into product development and future solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and development of RF circuits including transmitters, receivers and antennas
• Development of low power RF systems within UHF and low GHz bands
• Work with both discrete components and integrated circuits
• Evaluate and test RF designs and support transition to manufacturing
• Work closely with a multi-disciplinary engineering team
• Support customer requirements gathering and technical discussions
• Produce technical documentation including test procedures and design documentation

Key Experience

• Strong experience in RF circuit design
• Experience designing transmitters, receivers and antennas
• Experience working with RF integrated circuits and discrete components
• Experience with RF testing and measurement equipment
• Understanding of wireless communication systems

Desirable Experience

The following would be beneficial but not essential:

• Analogue or digital electronic circuit design
• General electronic design including PCB layout
• Experience with Matlab, Python, VHDL or C
• Understanding of CE / UKCA certification processes
• Experience working with lithium-ion batteries or power circuitry
