Winners Trip Diary by Steve Wright, Recruitment Sales Manager
February 2013

The top billers annual events are without a doubt the highlight of a Spectrobots social calendar.

With a hectic work schedule pre-trip (standard!) I had little time to think about what to expect, with the itinerary in one hand and suitcase in the other we board the plane - several bubbly and mixer style drinks are consumed (standard!).

Go America - To Americanise ourselves we spent the first evening in a typical American sports bar; huge tv screens, pool, nachos, burgers and a low-key intro to life in San Francisco.

The Rock - Our first outing proper, Alcatraz! A glorious sunny Californian morning greets us for Breakfast as we set off to a classic American diner. Coffee on tap, maple syrup soaked bacon on pancakes consumed we stroll down to Pier 39 for our first tourist escapade. Seals, marina and bubba-gump shrimp selfie ticked off, we board the boat to Alcatraz. Awesome! Oakland Bay Bridge as the backdrop we bounce our way along San Francisco Bay as the daunting figure of the rock draws near. Jail breaks, Al Capone, Birdman and native American history all crammed on to an island the size of, well, a big rock!

From prison break to Macey’s for a civilised afternoon of beers at the balcony bar before a trip out of town to watch the Golden Gate Warriors - although jet lag and the excitement of the day soon took its toll on some of the party who managed to catch some shut-eye much to the delight of the baller fanatics!

Little Italy – Day 3 will be remembered for the discovery of the Cioppino - actually more memorable than the trip to the Golden Gate Bridge for tourist selfie essential #3! Foodies will absolutely love this monster of a meal, donning our paper bibs we tuck into a huge ensemble of shellfish, crabs, clams and lobster cooked in a rich Italian tomato sauce – incredible. We waddled our way back through little Italy and China Town towards Union Square.

Trams, street yoga and Chinese New Year festival parade made up the rest of the day with a steak meal and a night
out in the marina district signing off a fantastic 3 nights in San Francisco.
