Backend Engineering Manager
A leading data security software company are looking for a Backend Engineering Manager to join their growing organisation.
The Backend Engineering Manager will join an established engineering team and provide management and leadership expertise to the team
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Backend Engineering Manager to join a growing organisation, take on a team of Circa 15 Engineers and support them in delivering excellent results.
As a Backend Engineering Manager you will support the Backend Engineering Team, provide team management and be able to align resources of the team with various projects.
The role of Backend Engineering Manager will involve:
- Be the driving force for team contribution and collaboration.
- Work with other key stakeholders across Engineering and Product to solve problems that are blocking our platform roadmap.
- Drive the operational excellence of your team, especially as it grows. You will align everyone to the team's goal.
- Facilitate the team in technical discussions to ensure the best solutions are being adopted.
- Be the direct manager of the engineers in your practice, holding regular 1:1s and guiding individual development, allocating resources to meet demand and ensuring the team is aligned with each other.
- Need to ensure alignment with our product roadmap to ensure the backend practice is supporting the wider engineering team.
- Facilitate the team's discussions with the wider Engineering function and Product team, translating client problems into viable solutions.
The successful Backend Engineering Manager will have;
- A proven Backend Engineering Manager
- An understanding of software engineering within a complex microservices architecture build, with the ability to solve problems in large scaling systems, 20% of your time will be spent on complex technical responsibilities.
- Ability to manage a highly skilled team going through rapid growth on a scaling global platform.
- A strong career in backend engineering before moving into management, you will ideally align to our tech stack in a microservices build architecture: Go, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Docker, Protobuf, gRPC, Redis, Full CI and deployment to multiple cloud providers
- Able to demonstrate high emotional intelligence across your team, peers and other departments and work as the centrepiece to unify the teams.
The role of Backend Engineering Manager is paying up to £90,000 depending on experience and fantastic benefits which include; Bonus, 25 days annual leave, Enhanced Pension Contribution, Catered Lunch and more.
This role offers hybrid working with candidates required to be available to commute to offices in Basingstoke.
