Role: Contract Senior IT Support Engineer
Length: 3 Months

Our client is seeking a well-rounded Senior IT Engineer who will be responsible for managing the transition from our use of an IT management company to a wholly internally resourced IT function, including assisting in the recruitment of permanent personnel at the end of the transition.
You will be working with a growing company based in the UK and abroad and will be based in their Southampton office.
COVID 19 rules still currently impose a restriction to "work from home where possible", and we anticipate a mixture of home and office work as the job demands will be the pattern.
Duties of the role will include but are not limited to:
- Managing the updating, repatriation and rounding out of procedures, guidelines, and records for the transition of IT functions to the Company. This will include responsibility for Cyber Essentials Plus compliance.
- Liaison with the IT service company to agree transition tasks, responsibilities, and milestones.
- Planning, tracking, and managing progress; reporting regularly to senior management.
- Participation in design, development, procurement, testing and maintenance of any necessary IT software & hardware infrastructure upgrades (on-premises, virtual/local and cloud).
- Assisting in the recruitment of permanent personnel towards the end of the transition.
Qualifications (one or more of)
- Numerate degree or equivalent tertiary education
- Relevant postgraduate qualification: MSc, PhD or equivalent
- Relevant industry qualifications: MCAD, SCJD, CCNA, CISM, BCS Diploma or equivalent
Relevant skills and experience (in order of importance):
- Experience and track record in managing an IT service company, and preferably experience of a similar transition.
- Knowledge and solid experience of relevant IT hardware and software technologies. We use a mixture of PC and server-based Microsoft and Linux operating software, and a mixture of cloud, and local services (including VMs).
- Knowledge and experience of relevant IT practices, systems, technologies, and standards (Cyber Essentials Plus or ISO27001).
- Good English language skills, both written and spoken.
