Contract ASIC Engineer

Job description

Our client is looking for a Senior ASIC Engineer with extensive telecoms/semiconductor industry experience to contribute to the development of their hardware solutions. This is a hands-on role, which will play an important part in the organisation's product portfolio.


Key Responsibilities

  • Apply specialised skills and expertise to enable team to make the successful and timely delivery of projects
  • Provide mentoring to aid the development of junior colleagues
  • Contribute to the optimisation, synthesis and characterisation of ASIC solutions
  • Support customers in the validation, synthesis and integration of ASIC solutions

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Essential:

  • Optimisation, synthesis, characterisation, validation and integration of ASIC solutions (at 16 nm or below)
  • Extensive industry experience in relevant role
  • Developing Python and TCL scripts for synthesis, static timing closure and formal verification
  • Experience of power estimation tools and power-aware physical design flow
  • Proficiency in EDA tools (Synopsys and/or Cadence) and process libraries
  • Adept at providing technical support, working with customers during the integration phase of their projects
  • Version control and peer review (e.g. Git)
  • Documentation (e.g. Confluence)
  • Time management (e.g. Jira)

Desirable:

  • Porting FPGA designs to ASIC targets
  • ASIC synthesis and back-end processes
  • Back-end flow including floorplanning, LVS/DRC, UPF
  • DFT techniques and tools including MEMBIST
  • Automation (e.g. Jenkins)
  • Communications signal processing algorithms (ideally error correction, equalisation, channel estimation, beamforming or another baseband component)
  • Mobile communications systems
  • Telecoms and/or semiconductor industry knowledge
