Senior BI Developer - SQL Server 2016, SSRS, SSIS, ETL, Tableau

A fantastic opportunity to join a market leading retail/ecommerce company investing significantly across technology and platform to build a leading edge IT function capable of driving the business forward.

Reporting to a skilled & engaging BI Manager the role of Senior BI Developer is to aid in the evolution and enhancement of the companies SQL Server BI platform and services. This is a big and diverse role which with the scope to design and implement robust business intelligence solutions and help to build and grow the team to support it.

There is a fledgling BI solution in place and the investment to turn in in to an industry leading BI function.

One of the key objective for the Business Intelligence team and this person specifically is to improve the analytics and reporting services for the company. This contributing to better communication and forecasting which will help the company to achieve their ambitious growth and capitalisation plans.

In terms of technology, they are running SQL Server 2016 and AWS with the plan to introduce Redshift - all of this is open to discussion and your input will help to mould the future tech stack. They will be using the full BI stack (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS) as well as tools for visualisation and insight analysis. They've implemented Tableau but there is also talks of PowerBI/Tableau/QlikSense for the reporting,. All is yet to be finalised so the sooner this person gets started the more they can contribute to those discussions.

The team is approaching 40 people and in a highly collaborative environment you will coordinate with the BI Manager, Product Owners, Business Analysts, Developers etc to help scope and build the future technology roadmap.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience building up Business Intelligence solutions using the Microsoft SQL Server (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS) - with a focus on ETL and reporting
  • Extensive knowledge of Data warehouse design
  • Understanding and experience of reporting (designing reporting functions and transforming the way the business understand and interpret key information)
  • Transforming reports into visual representation with good knowledge of BI tools and trends
  • Excellent business acumen and the ability to liaise/ influence stakeholders on all levels
  • Ambitious, determined and passionate about Data and BI
