Mud, Sweat and Smiles in Aid of The Brain Tumour Charity

Brain Tumour Charity Cheque Jan 2020

Nicole Doughton Spectrum IT Giving Back, Spectrum Charity Work

Throughout 2019, Spectrum IT were busy organising fundraising activities for our chosen charity of the year - The Brain Tumour Charity. We chose this charity as it is particularly close to a colleague of ours and the money raised will go to vital research and raise awareness of brain tumours.

The Brain Tumour Charity is at the forefront of the fight to defeat brain tumours, making a difference every day to the lives of people with a brain tumour and their families. They fund pioneering research to increase survival, raise awareness of the symptoms and effects of brain tumours and provide support for everyone affected to improve quality of life. They are committed to having the biggest possible impact for every person affected by a brain tumour, and to defending the most amazing part of the human body.

To kickstart our fundraising efforts, we were kindly donated a signed Southampton ‘Saints’ Football shirt which we auctioned for £300. We also have a tuck shop of treats supplied by Spectrum IT, for staff to purchase by making a donation.

Summer BBQ - July

The Science Park Social Club had previously organised the Annual Summer BBQ on the University of Southampton Science Park where our office is based. The Club stopped meeting due to the lack of committee members, so we decided to take the reigns and organise this ever-popular Summer BBQ which attracts over 250 tenants from the Science Park. We organised the catering and beverages on the day, with money raised from ticket sales going to the Brain Tumour Charity.

With the previous years' funds raised, they have been able to donate a fantastic £1,300 towards our total. Thank you!

Tough Mudder - September

Sunday 22nd September, eight employees braved the London South Tough Mudder with intermittent heavy rain, and some very muddy obstacles. The team worked together to make sure everyone completed the course.

Christmas Jumper Day - December

On Friday 13th December (supposedly the unluckiest day) our office put on their best festive jumpers and raised an additional £49 for this charity on Christmas Jumper day. Any excuse to get festive!

We are very pleased with our efforts and smashed our £3k fundraising target with a whopping £3,187 and would like to thank everyone who took part.
