Spectrum IT partnered with The Delivery Group in 2023, supporting the business through a major transformation of their technology function. At the start of our engagement, the 500-person logistics organisation had just two internal Developers maintaining a legacy product and a CTO, with all other engineering capability outsourced. They were ready to build a full in-house team but had limited experience hiring software engineers and were unsure where to begin - from defining job roles to benchmarking salaries and attracting strong talent.

We already had a strong working relationship with the CTO from his previous organisation, where we supported him in building a high-performing engineering team. When he moved to The Delivery Group as part of a product acquisition, he invited Spectrum IT to support this new journey.

One of the key challenges was time - the CTO was heavily involved in daily operations and struggled to review applicants. To solve this, we introduced a centralised recruitment portal and outsourced first-stage screening to Spectrum IT, ensuring only well-matched candidates were progressed. This streamlined process reduced turnaround time from several weeks to just days, presenting hiring managers with 2–4 high-quality candidates per vacancy.
