AWS DevOps Engineer

Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure AWS infrastructure.
  • Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or AWS Cloud Formation to automate deployment, scaling, and management of infrastructure resources.
  • Collaborate with development teams to implement Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) pipelines for efficient and reliable software delivery.
  • Monitor system performance and reliability, and implement proactive measures to optimise resource utilisation, enhance security, and ensure high availability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues, including network connectivity, server errors, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Work closely with software engineers to optimise application performance, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure smooth deployment of new features.
  • Manage and administer MySQL databases, including design, performance tuning, backups, and replication.
  • Implement and maintain RESTful APIs for seamless integration between different systems and services.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in AWS cloud services.
  • Solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and experience with tools like Terraform.
  • Experience with building RESTful APIs.
  • Proficiency in managing and optimising MySQL databases.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and related tools such as Bitbucket or AWS.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a production environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as New Relic, AWS CloudWatch.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and experience implementing security controls in AWS environments.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices
